We sure enjoyed the beginning of our holiday weekend here at Lake Hannibal. Our day was quite hot and humid with a few periods of rain but we were looking forward to the fireworks display which is an annual event here as well as all across our Great Nation.
We invited the family out to watch the fireworks display with us and then took lawn chairs to the clubhouse where we would watch from the lawn next to the lake.
While we waited in the bright sunshine we watched the RC aircraft performance which takes place regularly from the RC Aerodrome across the street from the clubhouse.
The "Lakeside RC Aerodrome" club rents this field from the owners and flies their aircraft with a great deal of expertise. We enjoyed the aerobatics and friendliness of the guys flying these RC planes and helicopters.
They even kindly offered to have me fly one of the training aircraft which has dual controls. Choosing not to embarrass myself I declined but promised to take them up on that offer at a later date.
The family arrived and we set up the lawn chairs to watch the fun, then waited for darkness and the 9:30 PM beginning of the fireworks.
The outstanding display was great and the finale was absolutely awesome!!
That was a fine ending to a very nice day!
