Christchurch is the largest city on the south island. It has a colonial feel to it, but also has lots of modern structures and buildings.
After finding a place to stay we had a look around town. In the evening we got some food from the supermarket and stayed in our hostel.
We explored Christchurch during the next couple of days looking at the museums, botanical gardens and the art gallery. We had some good weather so it was good to just stroll around. We had a lovely gourmet meal one evening as a treat ! It was great food and the wine was also good !
On the last night Nick went to the rugby, the last NPC game of the season between Cantebury and Auckland. Whoever won would win the championship. It was a good game and Cantebury easily powered past Auckland. Monica spent some time reading and relaxing.
We got an early night as we had to get up at 3.30am to get to the airport.
At the airport they were showing the England game, so we got to watch that before boarding the plane !
Foley Towers - Good hostel with all the facilities required plus good rooms.
Cook n on gas - Great food and setting. Steak and lamb is delicious !
