Actually it has been almost three weeks since updating this journal. However, I am entering it as if I had been able to do it as we traveled. However, for most all of this trip we were unable to have access to WIFI, and only had a phone line connection a couple of times to check e-mail. That's the way it is when you travel off of the beaten path as we did much of this trip. Anyway, this is how the last couple of weeks played out for us.
WEEK FOUR of the Razorback football season found us headed from Cabot down to Tuscaloosa for the game. We left on Wednesday and stopped in White Hall to visit with our oldest son and our grandson. Lindsey works at International Paper and had worked the late shift and was able to be home when we passed through town. Grandson Lawrence got home from school while we were there. Daughter-in-Law Lori was still at work, so we missed visiting with her. We also got to visit with their two dogs, a small Poodle named Nike, and a very large and growing Boxer named Gipson. We had a great visit and surprised Lawrence with an early present for his coming graduation from high school, giving him a check to help purchase his first car. We are anxious to see what he will find.
We met up with our traveling RoadHog friends down at Lake Village at Pecan Grove RV Park where we spent the night. Tommy & Anna Ruth Venters, Bob & Dot Strawbridge, Ken & Delois Cox, and Raymond & Glenda Arey were our travel companions on this trip. Raymond and Glenda will continue on with us following the ballgame as we go on up to Renfro Valley, KY to meet up with a Newmar tour group there. That means we will have to kill some time between Tuscaloosa and Mt. Vernon, Ky as this activity does not begin until October 5.
Thursday - We arrived in Tuscaloosa and checked in at the RV park not too far from the Alabama campus. Enjoyed having a potluck dinner that evening with the group.
Friday - Checked out the campus today, locating the area for handicapped parking. Two of the cars have HC hangers for the front window, so we will all pile into these cars tomorrow to go to the game and be able to park near the stadium. We had a hamburger cookout tonight and played a lot of Pegs & Jokers! Best I remember, the women beat us. Imagine that.
