It’s hard to leave friends early, on time, especially when there’s so much to say! We had forgotten though, that we had a 320 mile drive ahead of us. Luckily, we had great traffic on I-10 and later the transition to I-8 so there were no delays... We don’t go through Phoenix, we go around Phoenix. Look at it on a map, using I-10, make the transition to I-8, to Gila Bend then Hwy 85 to I-10 and then continue west. Awesome route... A little longer but a lot less stressful.
When we landed at Desert Gold we parked and met old friends, some we haven’t seen in two years or more. Then opening up the park model which had sat empty for two seasons, we were met with a pleasant surprise that there was not much dust or vermin intrusion ! The only major thing was Dave had to rebuild the toilet as nearly all the gaskets were cracked and leaking water. The nearest hardware store is 16 miles away, so it’s a situation where you want to make sure you get everything right the first time! Our friends here came over and opened up the house to plug in the refrigerator and got it cooling it yesterday. so we pulled up the Coach to the front door and started unloading stuff into the house. That takes about 5 hours.
We got involved in the community right away volunteering for various functions. Friends, new and old have greeted us warmly. We really love sitting out at the end of our deck to watch the birds and animals feed from the water feature we’ve made for them.
More news to come, as we’ve already made a trip or two out to the desert. If you other fellow RV’ers have any ideas to come to the Quartzite area, we say come on down and experience the desert at least once.
