This Best Western Big Country Inn has been modernized with great lighting, roll out desks, Keurig coffee maker etc. Is a deal for $100! There BW is another in Coalinga. For those Tesla owners who charge up in Harris Ranch, this is a good spot to stay.
Furthermore, Harris Ranch will pick/return you from the hotel. We had a wonderful prime rib dinner at the Harris Inn Steakhouse. They have a good wine list and the meat is wonderful. Far better than Ruth Chris. We also had the 2015 Martin Ray Diamond Mountain District Napa cabernet.
We are happy that we opted for Harris Ranch rather than Reno!
Fairly windy driving up Interstate 5 but no gusts as we typically experience in KS, WY, CO etc. The road really needs repair. Pot holes, white lines almost nonexistent.
Had a long list for Costco shopping. Stopped in Vallejo which is an old store with far fewer products than we are accustomed to in Novato or Santa Rosa. We were home by 2:30 and unloaded, laundry done, systems hooked up and ready by 5:30 for a glass of wine.
This was a short trip. 24 days and 3,428 miles. We learned a lot about the rig and enjoyed the ease of operation. Our challenge is the need to level the vehicle for the propane to run the fridge when we boondock. The battery will not sustain the fridge for any length of time. Not sure we have the patience but who knows. We hope to get out on more shorter trips. Are already talking about Half Moon Bay and Paso Robles.
