2019 Bear Hunt travel blog

Bye Waikiki. Thanks for having us.

Off we go!

14 October 2019

It's time to say farewell to Hawaii and our adventurous holiday. We have all been truly blessed with a great time, good health and great travelling buddies.

An early start to the day & ready to be picked up by 6am. Everyone managed to get the suitcases closed & our Uber driver arrived promptly. A very friendly guy who was a bit hard to understand with his Vietnamese accent, but he knew how to drive very fast. Honolulu is a very busy city at that hour of the morning.

A bit of a wait at the airport for the staff to start work, but checkin, immigration and customs was very smooth. We were all on board and taxi-ing out by scheduled departure time. Arrived in Sydney ahead of schedule after a good flight.

We had several hours to wait for our Brisbane connection, but were eventually on our way, right on time again, a very fast taxi out to the runway & we were on the way without slowing down. A quick trip to Brisbane arriving 15 minutes early, after he had to do a loop before getting the all clear to land.

Ian & Anne's daughter, Janet kindly picked us up, then Home sweet home. Now it is 15 October & we have got back the day we lost when we set out!

A bit of unpacking, showers and a good night's sleep.

Our adventures were wide & varied, all different and exciting, and each place had its highlights. We all appreciated being able to base ourselves in one place without the need for packing & moving every other day.

To our travel buddies - thanks for your company, so blessed to have such good friends.

One thing that was common - so many thought Anne & Pam were sisters. In Waikiki, one staff member commented - "I know you are sisters, but are you twins?"

Thanks to you all for coming on the journey with us, we all really appreciated the news & emails from home, they make such a difference when one is travelling.
