Today is our last day of what has been a truly grand adventure. We started the day by heading back to the Globe theater.  We went on a tour of the Globe that was led by a Welsh girl named Ffion who was  absolutely brilliant! The current Globe was a project of Sam Wanamaker which was completed in 1997. Unfortunately Sam died before it was completed. It is built using as much info as possible to make it identical to the original Globe that had burnt down during a performance in the 1600's. The fire was started by a canon that was being used for sound effects. The canon obviously did not use a canon ball, but instead it had what was believed to be a wad of material. The flaming ball of material got fired throught the open roof and landed on the thatched roof which immediately caught fire. The current Globe is the only thatch roof building in London as they were made illegal after the great fire of London. It took Mr. Wanamaker 8 years to get a permit to use a thatched roof on this theatre. Had this not taken so long, Mr. Wanamaker could have seen it completed. The entire project took 27 years from concept to completion.

From the Globe, we headed over to check out Paddington Station. It is a beautiful old station with a lot of GWR (Great Western Railway) mainline trains. We wandered around a few nice little shops, and found a bronze bear.

From Paddington we caught the underground over to Tower Hill Station and walked around the Tower of London and surrounding areas, then we headed back to Kings Cross station and then headed out to Heathrow.

It was a really nice last day in and around London.
