The 87th Infantry Division held its 70th Reunion in Danbury, CT capped with a visit to the United States Military Academy. this year's reunion had only 4 WWII veterans in attendance, but it was good to see them. For guys in their mid-90's they did pretty well. Our plans are to continue to have the reunions until there are no more WWII veterans alive. Since the Legacy Association began about 10 years ago we have met folks from all over the country that have become friends and like members of our extended family. The plans are to hold the next reunion in Georgia in 2020.
On our way home, we made a stop in Riverside, NJ on the invitation of our son Jared. To our surprise, our 3 sons and their spouses along with our niece Traci planned a surprise Anniversary party. Friends and relatives from NJ and Delaware were there to celebrate with us. It was a pleasant surprise and great to see people we had seen in a long time. The best man from our wedding was even there. We haven't seen each other in over 40 years. The "wedding cake" was a giant cream donut from L&M bakery in Riverside. You haven't had a cream donut until you've eaten one from L&M. Meat ball and sausage sandwiches were served on rolls from DeLuca's Bakery. We enjoyed the Riverside delicacies. Thanks to all who planned and executed this surprise.
