|Aug. 17,2019 - Adventures East RV Park, Baddeck, BC. Drove from Pictou, Nova Scotia to Baddeck, Cape Breton. Real fiasco when we got to park. Talked to the owner when I made reservations and he said he had a really nice pull through site for us. When we arrived, we found out that the park had no pull through sites and we would not fit into the site he was going to put us in. Long story short - we wound up in a seasonal site that was empty for the night, that we barely fit into. The people in the park were very friendly! Our neighbors invited to come over and join them at their fire pit and we met some really nice people. Had potatoes and chicken for supper.
Aug. 18, 2019 - Drove along the Cabot Trail up to Chetecamp. Bought a rug hooking kit at Lola's ( nice little store that sells mostly rug hookings and supplies). Stopped at the information center but bypassed the Rug Hooking Museum we stopped at last year. Had lunch at the Harbour Restaurant and Bar (same restaurant we ate at last year). I had a lobster roll and it was delicious!! Had ice cream at Flora's. Had soup for supper, at the rv. Went to Ceilidh in Baddeck at the Parish Hall. Buddy MacDonald (on the guitar( and Rachel Davis (on the fiddle). Cost was $10.00 each and the it was an excellent show!!!
Aug. 19, 2019 - Md morning drove to Glace Bay and had lunch at Collete's, a little restaurant that is well known and crazy busy. Went on a tour of the Miner's Museum in Glace Bay. Our tour guide was Abbie Michalik, was 81 years old. He was one of the last miners still working in the mines in Glace Bay, before they shut down. Toured the old buildings outside the Museum. Someone had actually planted a small garden down in the mine. Drove over to Marconi Museum and checked that out. Drove over to Sydney and went to Walmart and found a bank. Drove home and corn on the cob and leftover ribs for supper. Made fruit salad and brought diary up to date. Very muggy day and it rained after 11:00 PM.
Aug. 20, 2019 - Down day today. Made rice krispie squares. Worked on figuring out and updating travel journal. Went out to 3 For The Road in Baddeck for supper. Walked around Baddeck and stopped for ice cream. At 7:30 went to the Parish Hall for another Ceildigh. Joe McMasters (Natalie McMasters nephew) played fiddle and Mike Hall played piano and Beverly Mclean, step danced. It was a great evening of entertainment for $10 each.
