DAVE & REBECCA'S BIG ADVENTURE travel blog

Going over the Ohio River and crossing into . . .

Kentucky!

We asked permission from Walmart Mgt if we could stay, they said...

Ginger and Dave are Happy Campers!

We drove 225 miles today on a rather slow but beautiful drive. “They” are Scenic Byways, the first was the Ohio scenic and second was the Kentucky Scenic Byway. Both are the US Highway 68. The going was slow at times as the road in a couple places is narrow, very narrow and curvy, but that’s why they’re called SCENIC, right!!! We really enjoyed the drive and fully did not expect to make much time or miles, but still 225 was not bad, average actually for us...

Tonight we’re Walmart Kamping in Lebanon Kentucky and enjoying the freedom of the road. If you do this be sure to go into the store and ask permission at the service desk. Some Walmart’s are not allowed by way of local ordinances to let you stay. In such a circumstance you’ll probably get awakened in the night by a nice man in a blue uniform, badge and flashlight telling you to move on. And, of course, always always spend some dollars supporting the host, Walmart. Do not put out more than one slide, do not setup your camp stove, BBQ, etc. In other words, be respective and unobtrusive as possible. In our picture you’ll notice Our basement doors are wide open, that’s to let the inner basement cool, after such a hot day on the road.

See ya on down the road. . . .
