Jeanne & John's Living The Dream travel blog

An absolutely beautiful winters day. We decided to take a drive through the farmlands to see the Cooby Creek Reserve, which actually holds the water supply for Toowoomba. The reality of the drought was again very prevalent.

Very unfortunately the main part of the dam was closed for some inexplicable reason, however the section at the dam wall picnic areas was open and beautifully maintained. The dam level is very low. We found a table under the trees for a spot of picnic lunch, where we were joined on the table by a very tame kookaburra, who was obviously very used to being fed.

A few small hawks to photograph along the farm roads on an alternate route home, but nothing startling. Tomorrow we will head to St George, where we will probably stay quite a few days as there seems to be quite a bit to see around there.

See you in St George!
