|Waking to gray skies, I walk around the RV park and then start driving south on 101 along the coast, stopping soon to walk along the water. Here and there the clouds are breaking up. Sunshine has become a precious commodity to me in the weeks I have spent in the northwest.
Yaquina Head is an "outstanding natural area," so I pull in to the visitor center, walk to the light house, down to the "cobble"—so called for the unusual rocks there, which came from a volcanic explosion millions of years ago, to the lighthouse, and the walk up the hill.
The Oregon Coast is incredibly beautiful. This is just one of those spots.
I continue along the coast, stopping frequently, thinking if one spent time simply along the Pacific Coast, that wouldn't be bad.
