A stop along Lake Huron heading to Cheboygan

The Mackinac Bridge connects Michigan's Upper Peninsula at St Ignace to Michigan's Lower Peninsula at Mackinaw City. The morning following our ferry ride to the island we crossed the Mac and stopped for photos of the bridge from the Mackinaw City side. Also took a short walk around the waterside park and neighborhood before heading down the peninsula on the Lake Huron side passing through Cheboygan heading to Alpena, MI.

Notice the word Mackinac is used on the island and bridge. The word Mackinaw is used for the lower peninsula. However, the islanders still pronounce the word Mackinac as Mackinaw which was the original French pronounciation. Are you confused yet?
