|Good morning from London,
After an overnight flight “across the pond“ we arrived in London England on Wednesday morning. We’re spending two nights in London before we meet up with our tour group on Friday. On this trip we’re really looking forward to exploring more of Europe!
On Wednesday, the weather in London was sunny and warm. We took the subway from Heathrow to the Piccadilly Circus station, transferred to the Bakerloo line and exited at Lambeth North station. From there it was just a quick walk to our hotel.
At home when we go out to eat, John orders fish and chips more than anyone else I know. So it was quite exciting when he was finally able to have fish and chips at a pub in London for lunch!! To make the experience even better, he enjoyed a glass of London Pride...slightly chilled, not cold but when in Britain....
We spent the afternoon exploring the Westminster area and then ended up up in Trafalgar Square. The Mall is a road in the City of Westminster, central London, between Buckingham Palace at its western end and Trafalgar Square via Admiralty Arch to the east. We walked along The Mall from Trafalgar Square to Buckingham Palace.
At this time of year the palace is not open for public tours. However there were hundreds of people dressed up in their Sunday best (yes all of the ladies were wearing their fascinators) all queued up with orange tickets. Something was definitely going on. They were acting all prim and proper and they were all very excited.
After the palace we took a stroll through St. James’s Park and made our way back to Westminster Bridge. It was an early evening as we were pretty tired after a restless night on the plane.
This morning we’re energized and ready to go. Looks like another nice day out there. We’re off to explore The Tower of London!!
