|Last day in Windsor
Cold start - 6 degrees at 9 am.
Windsor is such a pretty town, not as touristy and many traditional shops. Today is the London Marathon - unfortunately we didn’t get our entry in time, so were not allowed to run the 45 kms! There were 40,000 competitors. Oldest competitor to complete course was 84 years old taking 6 hours - the winner, a Kenyan took 2 hours. We didn’t see it, but on TV saw novelty costumes of the not so serious runners dressed as a crayon, or London’s Big Ben, trying to enter the Guinness Book of Records. One billion pounds was raised for many charities.
Scouts from around Britain held their Annual scouts awards ceremony in St George Chapel, Windsor and we were able to see many parading at our Hotel and proceeding towards Windsor Castle.
Lunch was our Anniversary cruise luncheon up the Thames on a glass roof long boat. Not what we were expecting in terms of scenery, but nevertheless was a very relaxing afternoon cruise and great meal, going up river through locks. We passed many holiday makers navigating their long boats.
Heather’s cousin lives in Glasgow, and they had a long phone chat.
Must pack as we have a morning flight to Denmark.
