Sydney to Hong Kong
Up early and caught a shuttle to the International Airport, then checked in for the flight to Johannesburg via Hong Kong. The flight was about an hour late leaving Sydney but we arrived in Hong Kong pretty much on time. The flight to HK was uneventful with no turbulence and we just passed the time watching movies. Lynn watched Ben is Back, A Star is Born, Boy Erased, and part of Green Book. David watched The Sisters Brothers, The Old Man and the Gun, and did some crossword puzzles. We didn’t want to sleep on this leg. We had a six hour layover in the chilly HK Airport while we waited for our next flight to Johannesburg which left at around 1am the next day. Nothing much to do in the airport but did get a serving of spring rolls to keep us going.

Hong Kong to Johannesburg
Left Hong Kong about an hour late for our 13 hour flight to Johannesburg, but the flight was very smooth and we had good seats. Slept quite few hours on the flight but Lynn watched the end of Green Book and also Instant Family (chick flick), and David watched Green Book before we arrived in Joburg at about 7:30am. We were out through immigration and picked up our luggage by about 8:45am. We were picked up and transferred to our accommodation at the Outlook Lodge where we are spending today and tonight. Our room is delightful overlooking a beautiful garden so we plan to go for a walk and have lunch somewhere then back for a break, before we leave on a six day safari tomorrow out to the Greater Kruger area. We spent the rest of the morning walking around the neighbourhood, then had lunch in a restaurant nearby and spent the rest of the afternoon relaxing at the lodge and had dinner there. To bed early as we were tired.

Johannesburg to Tremisana Lodge
We had breakfast at the lodge and were picked by minibus at the lodge at about 9:30am for our journey out to Tremisana Lodge near the Kruger National Park. It rained quite a bit on the way there. When we reached our lunch spot at Dullstroom, we swapped vehicles and drivers for the rest of the journey. It then took until about 4:30pm to reach our destination. When we arrived, we checked in to Room 12 which was conveniently located ear the entrance and once we were settled, we went on an evening game drive into the private game park that is attached to the lodge. The weather was fine and although we saw impala, zebra and a white rhino, it was quite difficult to get any photos because of the darkness. We then arrived at another area where tables, lights and a BBQ had been set up. It looked quite magical out in the African bush. We enjoyed the food and it was a delightful start to our time there. David lost the door key somehow while out on the drive and had to get a replacement key to get into the room. After dinner, we went to bed again pretty early.
