A snail on his own Camino

Today, for the most part, is a walk along a highway - the route is called the "senda".

Or you can chose a route off the highway - I chose the route less travelled hoping for some quiet time. The first part was lovely. Then the mucky meseta made itself present in the second part. Along the way I met a snail. A pilgrim told me that people were collecting them to eat. This snail I captured on film.

I was reminded about an other pilgrim I met on a previous Camino who was trying to save caterpillars travelling across the path. She was carrying them to the other side of the path to save them from being trampled on.

I let this snail make his own way in the world.

Because the way became so mucky I returned to walk the "senda" with the other pilgrims.

I arrived in Carrion de los Condes and stayed in a well locate hostel so I was able to join the townfolk for their Good Friday procession. However the procession did not begin until 9:00 p.m. Taking photos with My I-Phone was a challenge - but here are a few to give you an idea. You will see that one of the bands had on masks to cover their faces - but openings so they could blow their own horns.
