Back in time for the end of winter festivities. The winter liveaboards held a BBQ which was well attended and lots of fun. Nice to catch up with the wonderful people we met over the winter.

Porto Cafe had a 5th anniversary party which went on to the early hours of the morning for some e.g. Gen.

We’ve enjoyed our time in Lefkas – there’s so much I’m going to miss, especially the Saturday morning local produce market, the fishmongers, butchers and the fine eateries.

It’s been an interesting winter, our first as full time liveaboards. I think we did well – the hardest part for me was keeping busy – there’s only so much I can do on the boat. What I did learn is that I can knit but cannot make anything. I tried to make two different (plain) jumpers and failed miserably. I will give it one more go next winter.

We left Lefkas on April 1 and started to head north to Corfu at a rather leisurely pace (taking into consideration the weather). First night we anchored off Preveza – we were the only ones there for most of the afternoon until one other boat anchored not too far from us. We watched fishermen cast their nets and then collect their catches. Also watched two large dolphins swim around the nets and our boat – beautiful.

Next day we headed further north and anchored in Two Rock Bay, again it was only us. This bay is stunning and especially in the dusk light. Unfortunately the swell started rolling in after midnight so it wasn’t the most comfortable of nights.

We then headed for the island of Paxoi and anchored off Lakka (along with two other boats). We love Lakka. Last time we were there was last October towards the end of the season (still restaurants open and quite a number of boats at anchor. This time it’s quiet, the village is like a ghost town and only a couple of cafes open mainly serving the workmen getting the various restaurants and shops ready for the summer season.

Left Lakka on Friday and had our first (very brisk) sail for the year. We are now in Gouvia Marina, Corfu, where we will be for the next month – spending time on No. 1 and No. 2. We’ve been joking that we should “date” this month as we spend time doing different things on each boat. Also we trying out our walkie talkies which is fun.
