We planned for our RV to be ready for the road today but that didn’t happen. The new wheel bearing was here and would replace the bad bearing so we were up early.
It was difficult for us to get up early because we didn’t sleep well last night. The storms passed through as scheduled with thunder, lightning, rain, sleet or hail, and most of all, very strong wind. The RV rocked while the slide topper awnings whipped noisily in the 35 to 40 mph wind.
The temperature also fell into the mid 30’s so it was colder than we have felt for years. We sat with our coffee and were finished in plenty of time to prepare the RV to be pulled into the shop. We soon had the RV in travel mode and left to have breakfast at “Huddles”.
When we returned to the RV I checked with the maintenance crew and they were ready for me to pull the RV into the shop. About 15 minutes later I left the RV for them while Marilyn & I went to the customer lounge with the fireplace and large screen TV.
We heard someone come in and it was one of the maintenance guys who informed us that the bad bearing had damaged the hub and that also needed to be replaced. I had replaced the original assemblies three or four years ago with Kodiak assemblies and these were no longer available. Alicia found one and it will be here on Tuesday so we are staying put, hoping to be in Hannibal by the end of next week.
While we would like to be back in Hannibal, it is nice to be retired and the delay causes us very little stress. We do want to get back “home” but only with all in ship shape on the RV.
