First two weeks of February
20 Feb 2019
|Well here's a quick update to our Val Vista Village winter holiday. The last couple of weeks has been very chilly for Arizona standards, average only 16-18 c day time with a very cold drop to 3-6 c overnight. We've even had a few nites of freezing, so needless to say we've stayed indoors for most of the time.
We've had a few outings with friends, including another trip to the Organ Pizza Stop where we were entertained yet again to fabulous Organ Music. This time we enjoyed the company of our good friends from Kelowna, Lloyd and Linda Kenzle who are here in Mesa for a winter vacation as well. After the pizza lunch we went back to our campsite and visited for the afternoon.
We made a great trip to the East Side of Phoenix to visit the Kenzle's at their campsite and spent another fun afternoon followed by a great meal in their RV. They were one of the first friends we met when Joanne and I retired to Kelowna.
Our next outing was a Birthday Celebration for our friend Ellen Wakelam (from Nanaimo). As I mentioned before, her Husband Tom and I went to High School together and reconnected here in Val Vista Resort. A great afternoon visiting with Tom and Ellen along with a number of their park friends.
We had a fabulous Olive Garden Dinner as a 'good bye' evening with our friends in Val Vista...Kay and Pat Fisher...a great meal with great friends followed by coffee at their home. (they are full time residents of Val Vista Resort.) Will miss them along with many others we've met here in Mesa.
This past weekend we attended the Val Vista Resort Canada Day Celebrations held in the Resorts Courtyard. Such an amazing time with 400+ Canadians from all Provinces and Territories with great food, dancing, entertainment and of course a couple or two cocktails.
Yesterday we had a fabulous dinner at Murphy's Law Pub in Chandler, Arizona with Linda and Lloyd Kenzle (friends from Kelowna) as a good bye/see you later as they are leaving for Las Vegas prior to heading back to Kelowna.
We're spending the next few days packing up, reorganizing the RV and getting set for our trip over to El Centro, California next Friday. We will be at the Rio Bend RV Resort and Golf Course for the month of March prior to returning home to Coquitlam.
Great news on the home front....Joanne and I just secured a 2 yrs lease on a new Condo in Port Coquitlam. The Fremont Village Complex is situated adjacent to the Super Walmart and a mile or so from Costco in Port Coquitlam. We chose the 2 Bdrm 2 Bath + Den on the 6th (top) Floor Corner and will take possession on our arrival home in Mid April. We had an opportunity to view the complex during construction just prior to our trip south and decide then that would be a perfect location for us to settle. ( Being only 20 minutes from Michelle and Sean's )
Enjoy the photos and more in a couple of weeks once we arrive in El Centro.
