Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Marilyn & I finished our coffee, the usual morning chores, and then were ready to go when Eddie & Jan arrived to pick us up for the drive to Mexico. Denny & Jackie drove up to join us while Jim & Kellie rode with them.

We crossed the bridge spanning the Rio Grande and walked to the El Disco department store where we found Poncho’s Bar which was the agreed upon meeting place. Mike & Marian had arrived and had the tables ready for 14 total. Mike & Sandy arrived with friends Steve & Jackie.

With all 14 of us present the fun, conversation, and laughter began in earnest. My jaws were aching from laughing so much at the antics and banter going back and forth.

After one drink and listening to the live music, we left and walked down the street to what used to be Garcia’s restaurant, above what used to be the Canada Store.

The service was excellent but the food left much to be desired. It seems that our best choices for meals are Arturos or Chuey’s Red Snapper. The food has consistently been good in each of these places. Chuey’s has live music while Arturo’s is a bit more upscale.

We shopped at a new store which had just opened and then walked back to the border where we joined a line longer than usual. The line moved along at a fair pace and we were soon on the way home.

Marilyn & I ate some leftovers for dinner and then settled down to watch the President give the State of the Union address which we enjoyed.

Any day we spend time with our friends is time well spent and that reinforces our belief that Life is Good!
