Being Tendered to Shore

Our Catamaran

Captain Cook Memorial at Kealakekua Bay

Crew Catching Wahoo

Overnight we sailed to the other side of the Big Island to Kona - the home of coffee that will keep you awake for days. Kona does not have a port, so our ship anchored offshore and we tendered into shore to catch a catamaran for a ride along the coastline. We saw where Captain Cook first visited this island in Kealakekua Bay. We were served a nice lunch and treated to a great 3 hour trip. On the return trip the crew had fishing lines trolling behind the boat. Simultaneously 2 of the lines hit and the crew were rewarded with 2 nicely sized yellow fin tuna. Shortly after they also caught a wahoo. We saw whales spouting off in the distance. A very enjoyable afternoon.
