|Day 2. Thursday 10th Jan.
Our flight was not due to leave until 3.20pm so we had time to take a bus to Hounslow & have breakfast at the Wetherspoon’s there. We checked out of the hotel at noon & made our way to the airport where we dropped our cases & then hung around till our flight.
The plane took off on time & we settled back for the ten & a half hour flight. All very uneventful with loads of films to watch on the seatback screen. We eventually landed at 6.20pm local time, 2.20am UK time due to the 8hrs difference.
Then it was two & a half hours of trudging backwards & forwards along row after row of people slowly zigzagging up & down the very large Arrivals hall until we finally made it to the Immigration control. I have never seen so many people crowded together except at a football match, the hall was packed. The lines must have gone up & down the room ten times. The crazy bit was that we had to stop half way round & scan our passports, have our finger prints checked & a photo taken before getting back in the line again. The same things were done again by the Immigration officer when we finally got to him.
By the time we got to the arrivals lounge it was 9.30pm(5.30am UK) so it was into a taxi & off to the motel. By the time we got there & settled in we were well tired but at least we had made it.
