We stayed in Las Vegas because Joanne was flying out on January 8th. We also have very dear friends, Grace, Mike and Rosie, that live here. And of course there are unlimited opportunities to play poker and other games!! Before we left Pahrump we got in another waffle breakfast! Yummy!

We stayed at Oasis the last time we were here. It is a huge RV park that is extremely convenient to everything. It is located just off I-15 and is only a block from Las Vegas Boulevard which runs the length of the Strip. It is also only about 10 minutes from Grace's house. We were in site #790 this time. It is a standard site which means that the concrete pad is long enough to hold two RVs. If we stay there again, we will stay in a deluxe instead. They are separate sites. Anyway, this one worked for what we needed. There are full hook-ups and we were just across the street from the bathhouse and laundry. The one downside was that Joanne couldn't set up her tent.

Also right close to us was South Point Casino. It is really nice and had everything we needed. Tim and Joanne played a lot of poker at South Point. I enjoyed a number of hours playing on my favorite slots. Of course, I wasn't a big winner but I was entertained!

On Saturday we drove up to the top of Mt. Charleston. The day was overcast and very windy. By the time we got to the top of the mountain, we were in snow flurries. There were hundreds of people sledding and playing in the snow. At the top is a ski area and the parking area was completely full. There were many, many snowboarders (moreso than skiers) on the slopes. It was unbelievable! It is quite beautiful there, but I am not into winter sports so I will visit and leave the living there to those who love the snow and cold. It is well worth the drive.

When we got back into Las Vegas, we went to see the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop where the show 'Pawn Stars' is filmed. The Pawn stars were not there but one of their experts, Mark Hall-Patton who is known as "The Beard of Knowledge", came to the store to sign autographs. That was quite interesting. From there we drove down to Fremont Street. That is quite a place. There are many good entertainers and a few just strange folks. I found myself a new 'gold' friend. There is always a lot going on.

On Sunday we met our friends and went out to dinner at a great place, Black Bear Diner. Had a wonderful time!! That was also our grandson's, Thomas, birthday!! Happy 12th Birthday Thomas!! We love you so very much!

On Tuesday Tim and Joanne played golf at Revere Golf Club. What a gorgeous course!! That evening we had the dinner buffet at Silverado Casino, which is right next to the RV park. After a little blackjack and slots, we took Joanne to the airport to fly back to Virginia Beach. Had fun!! Glad you came with us!!

We stayed a couple more days in Vegas. Tim played more poker and we enjoyed the buffet at Silverado again. Our last evening there we had dinner with Grace, Mike and Rosie. We had such a wonderful time!! We will miss you guys!!

All in all we had a great time in Las Vegas!
