Well, the folks who were coming to see the RV and the truck had to re-schedule for next week. That was ok for Marilyn & I because that enabled us to join our friends Denny & Jackie, Jim & Karen, and a new friend, Rick, as we drove east to the town of Donna where we ate lunch at Denny’s favorite hamburger place. The Gonzales sisters have a little place where hamburgers are all they do, but they do them well.
The beef is ground fresh every morning and formed into half pound patties about 8 or 9 inches in diameter. Fries and onion rings are also on the menu but that is it. This place has no signs and you have to know where it is. You stand in line to place your order. You then pay for your order including any drinks (canned tea or soda) and are given a number which will be called when your order is ready. You will probably have to stand around for nearly an hour before your number is called, and hopefully by this time you would have found an empty seat at a table.
There will be new customers waiting for you to finish eating your meal and leave so they might have a place to sit.
Is it worth the trip, the standing around, the crowd? Well, that is up to you but Denny rates it as the number one hamburger place in his book.
Marilyn spent the remainder of her day, after we arrived back at the RV, working on her “Santorini Project” while I worked on my latest book which will be titled “From Kelly…..With Love”
