Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Kraig & Jana arrived at our place at 9:30 and we were ready to enjoy a day of fun south of the border in Mexico.

We drove the back road (Military Highway) in order to show our family members the wall, the agriculture, and special places along the way. We parked on the USA side of the border, dropped our 50 cents in the turnstiles, and walked across the bridge. We pointed out the sign at the border which says “God Bless America and the Winter Texans. Welcome Home” and paused at the sign marking the border, located in the middle of the bridge.

Our first destination was Poncho’s Bar and we were just seated when our friends Denny & Jackie and Jim & Karen arrived and joined us. Following one drink we shopped and found some meds at much lower prices. Lunch was next on the agenda and Chuey’s Red Snapper was the choice. The food was delicious, with shrimp, oysters, and several typical Mexican dishes served up. We enjoyed the music and the pranks with lots of laughs.

After lunch we split up and went different directions. Kraig experienced a massage while I had a pedicure at Rafael’s. Jana and Marilyn shopped for a while and then we all wandered back toward the border. It was around 4:00 when we arrived back at home, worn out but happy and content. It was a wonderful day spent in the company of some of the finest people we know. I will post pictures in a day or so. We are staying quite busy for now and Life is Good.
