Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

It was cold down here and we woke toan outdoor temperature of 44 degrees with a strong wind blowing from the north. I turned the thermostat up to 70 degrees to take the chill off as the indoor temperature was 66 degrees. Nothing happened and I suspected an empty propane bottle. A quick check confirmed this so I opened the valve on the spare bottle, disconnected the empty bottle and put it in the car, drove up to “Pony Express” Oil Co just a short drive away, and had the 40# bottle filled for a cost of $28.00.

Marilyn was ready to go to the store when I arrived back at the RV so we unloaded the propane tank and drove off to the HEB store for a few grocery items and to get some cash from the ATM machine.

By the time we had the groceries put away and visited with our friends Jim & Karen for a few minutes, it was time to leave to pick up my cousin Jana and her husband of 25 years, Kraig. These are wonderful family members and we have looked forward to their first time visit to the Rio Grande Valley.

We took them to the Riverside club for lunch and enjoyed the food as well as our visit. After lunch we showed them around Retama Village and then sat indoors catching up on the events going on in our lives. We also played four games of Sequence and by then we were all hungry again.

Marilyn fixed a nice dinner and we ate until we were stuffed. Our family visitors were worn out from travel and the tours so we drove them back to their hotel and then returned home to do the dishes and relax.

It was a wonderful day and we look forward to another fine day tomorrow. Life is Good!
