Footbridge at Northam

Passed through Northam on the way. It is on the Avon river and is the start point for canoe races to Perth. It also has the longest suspension footbridge in Aust. Nice morning tea at the visitor center - worthy of a visit. For some reason they have a wicker balloon basket in the passage - probably as this area is home to so much of WA light aviation/ballooning/ultralight/parachute activity.

Stopped a couple of nights in Merredin as it is half way to Kalgoorlie but it is worthy of a visit in its own right.

A few years ago, the city fathers decided to set a world record and arranged (with a lot of help) to put together the longest road train in the world. They did it, 47 trailers pulled by one prime mover. They travelled 11 Km at an average of 8 Kph! - to the best of my recollection, so many places, so many things to try to remember, but the photo of this achievement impressed me.
