|Sunday 21 – Wednesday 24 October
Headed back to Lefkada and anchored in Vliho and Tranquil bay. Just enjoying our time with the lovely weather.
Wednesday 24 October
Anchored near Kastos on Kastos Island. Nice anchorage. You can see it’s the end of the season. The town looked very closed down. Very few boats in the harbour.
Thursday 25 October
The wind had changed direction and had picked up in the morning. Our anchor drag alarm went off so we just got up and moved on. We got a sprightly sail in and anchored for a short while near Ak Skrota, really lovely, whilst we waited for the wind to change.
Then headed off for Messolonghi.
Anchored not far from the marina, which is still waiting for its licence to be granted.
Friday 26 October
Took the dinghy and went and explored the town. Very lively and atmospheric, leading up to the closure of shops for the equivalent of siesta. On the way back stopped off at the Sunset bar at the marina and met Tony and Dawn who have overwintered in the marina for the past 8 years.
Saturday 27 October
Went back into town looking for the Saturday market, which we never found. On the way back following some provisioning we stopped off at the Sunset bar and caught up with Tony and Dawn again.
Sunday 28 October
The liveaboards hold every Sunday a BBQ (in between two boats on shore if the weather is good, or under the hull of a catamaran, again on shore if it’s raining. Tony and Dawn invited us to join them. Met some wonderful people, 11 different nationalities and characters. Totally had a wonderful time, maybe too much of a good time.
Monday 29 October
Left early morning and headed for one of our favourite anchorages, but because the wind was from the south we anchored in a different part of the bay.
Tuesday 30 October
Left the anchorage and within a short time we caught our first mackerel. Originally we were thinking of going to Meganissi but with the wind and forecast rain we continued back to Vliho. On the way we caught another 3 mackerel – we now can call ourselves reasonably competent at fishing rather than useless.
Wednesday 31 October
Went ashore in Nydri and then visited the Vliho yacht club.
Thursday 1 November
In the afternoon we moved to Levkas marina, our winter home.
So in this season since leaving MdR we have travelled over 2540 miles. Lots of memories (good time, scary times and some times you would like to forget) - on the whole we will remember this year fondly, just like all the others and are looking forward to many more.
