CAPETOWN:
arrived in capetown feeling kind of displaced,, met this nice tour guy "round and 55" and a gem... offered to take us to hostel for 160 rand and we were in.. seemed trustworthy and a little too easy; but I was tired so I went with it... stopped off to get some money,., my card wouldn't work and BIG guy offered to help me, then I was surrounded by 8 black guys and everyone started to yell. Put your pin in the machine, he told me my card was in the machine and he was trying to help.. I knew I was in a situation at this point.... but scared... then our driver came up and yelled at them, a woman came of out knowwhere to give me back my card and they almost got away with my bank card and pin... holy geez... the big scam of the capetown... these bastards put a piece of plastic in the machine so your card doesn't work, they offer to help. watch you fuss with computer with pin and voila--- they have your card and pin and off they go.. fuckers... thank god this driver interrupted.. there was about 10 of them by the end.. my heart pounded faster then the first time I saw zero.. talk about frickin scary... it was amazing how fast they are.... so watch out at the ATM;s ... b/c they almost got away with ALL my money.... bastards.. so Anwar my driver and I have a date tonight, I am taking him for dinner..... sweet peach he is....
not even five minutes in capetown and I was almost robbed.... police came, many surrounded the scene.. and our driver just put us in his van and took us to our hostel..... good times.....
I awoke at five this morning thinking I was going on drive,,, what a surreal experience being in this hostel --with all these travellers ... chilled with them lastnight, had more beers with more brits... some hotties too... laura my new travel mate is great and we will chill today to get our feet on the ground..
