Adventure Travel McColls (ATM$) 2017-2018 travel blog

To catch our transport to Xian we traveled from the scenic area to the city of Tunxi, spending an afternoon strolling through the Old Town Market admiring the exquisite handcrafted ink wells and brushes that this mecca for Chinese painters and calligraphers is famous for.

It would appear Tunxi sees few foreigners – or few bearded ones anyway, for two women asked to take our photo while we ate lunch. One even smooched Duncan! That was definitely the highlight of lunch – we had tired some of Chinese dishes and opted for western dishes – and were very disappointed at the touristic prices in the old town and shortly thereafter in the quality too.
