Dinner this evening

After a good nights sleep, we slept in and almost missed breakfast. Our plans for today included a three hour walking tour, followed by a water taxi tour of many of the canals around Venice. Cathy arranged the tour, and it was wonderful. Our tour guide was absolutely delightful. She showed us many historical places, and history here means many centuries . We had a pistachio gelato this afternoon, which apparently is the best anywhere. It was indeed delicious.

Tom and I ventured back to the hotel to escape the mid-afternoon heat; you can guess what Glenna, Cathy, Chris, and Liz were doing. Tomorrow our plans include a train ride to Florence and more touring.
