A Travel Day:
We departed Pocatello, ID shortly before 10:00 am. Our route today would take us south on I-15 to Jct. US30 E.
Jct. 89 W and again on Hwy 30 S. A distance of approximately 125 miles.
The road conditions were mostly very good. Traffic was light and the weather was clear except for a haze of smoke filled skies.
We arrived at our destination in Laketown, UT by 12:30 PM but could not check into the State Park Campground until 3:00 PM. With a couple of hours to kill we returned a short distance to Garden City and ate lunch at the Fireside Pizza Restaurant. On our way back to the campground will stopped at a rest area that had a historic marker designating the site of a Fur Trappers Rendezvous. I have read some about these rendezvous and being a former trapper myself I was glad to visit this place.
We learned of this campground from our friends Bob & Nancy Salvo. They are resident of UT and winter Yumans.
We checked into the Rendezvous Beach Campground at 3:00 PM but still had to wait for our campsite to be vacated.
Finally were able to make camp and relax. We don't have much shade here but it is not that hot unless you stand in the sun for awhile. We are here for three nights. I'm hoping that the skies will clear some this evening and I can get a clear view of the stars without much light pollution. I celebrate dark skies.
