We arrived at Denali National Park on Monday afternoon (Denali RV Park and Motel in Healy, just north of the park entrance) and had dinner at the Denali Park Salmon Bake Restaurant. On Tuesday we just drove into the park as far as private vehicles can go which is about 15 miles. The weather was overcast so we could not see Denali, formerly Mt. McKinley. We purchased a tour on the Denali Bus for a trip to Wonder Lake neat the base of Denali hoping for better weather on Wednesday. This didn't happen. Wednesday was even worse. It rained and snowed on us for most of the trip back to Wonder Lake which was about 85 miles one way. We did enjoy the trip because we saw two grizzly moms with two cubs each and one big male grizzly alone with two big caribou and an owl, goshawk and golden eagle beside a moose and two calved near the campground. When Thursday morning came and I noticed it seemed to be clearing I had a little hope of seeing Denali on the way to Anchorage. As we left Denali and headed towards Anchorage the weather kept clearing and we had a beautiful clear vier of the Alaska Range and Denali all the way to Anchorage.
