Overview/ Highlights

Sealed roads initially then we were on white Tuscan gravel roads for quite a while. Included some steep climbs. Quite tough cycling.

Followed a lovely rail trail for 6km into our morning tea stop at Colle di Val D’Elsa. A large cafe on the town square few drops of rain whilst there but nothing serious.

Supermarket stop in the way out of town then back onto white gravel roads. Saw a few other cycle tourers as well as some cycle tour company groups.

Took a sealed road to our lunch stop at an old fort/village on the top of yet another climb. It’s wall and towers looked like a large crown. Monteriggioni. The others walked the walls and Tom and I stayed in the square with the bikes. Quite a few road bike groups there.

After lunch we had a really nice descent on good roads before a final climb into Siena. I got behind the group and rode most of it by myself.

Siena was alive with tourists.

Tom and i ate out whilst the others had a home (Gaylene ) cooked meal in their apartment.

We all kept our bikes in our apartments which meant Tom and I carrying bikes to the 4th floor up stairs!

Goody. Time for another rest day !
