Overview/ Highlights

We had expected a nice descent from our ‘high altitude’ accommodation and then flat for quite awhile, however after a short descent we found ourselves with some pretty steep climbs for the morning. Constantly up and down. Countryside was nice with lots of grapes, olive groves and Tuscany pencil pines. Nice mountain views as we rode along the top of the mountain range. A quiet Sunday morning on the roads.

Stopped for coffee and cakes at an outdoor cafe in Gambassi, which was playing loud rock music.

We saw quite a few cyclists out riding. Tour groups and mountain bike riders.

San Gimignano was very busy with tourists from everywhere. We had a walk through it quickly and stopped at a cafe for lunch. Then moved out of the city for our accommodation. The accommodation place didn’t had forgotten our booking of months ago. Poor Ian had long discussions on the phone with the owner and eventually we had 2 rooms provided with a lot of stress on both sides.

We joined the others for drinks in town then Tom and I ate in hotel opposite our accommodation whilst others ate in centre of town

Aspasso nel tempo. Although nice, don’t bother about staying there. It will be getting a poor trip advisor review
