Earl and Rhonda Alaska 2018 travel blog

We arrived at Delta Junction today after three days in Chicken, Alaska. Yesterday we drove up to the top of Taylor Mountain where there is a remote radar site. We drove out of Chicken about nine miles then took what seemed like a dirt forest road. It was mostly up for about 7 miles on a fair one lane dirt road then the last mile and a half a very rocky climb about 1-2MPH in four wheel drive to the top at about 5,000'. What a view from the top! The radar site is unmanned but helps the military control the traffic in the area. Will post some pictures as soon as we have a good internet signal. We will be here for two days then on to Fairbanks for four days.
