July 12 – Tour of Prince Edward Island

We boarded the bus for a guided tour of PEI which included walking the rust colored shoreline of Cavendish Beach and touring Charlottetown.

We also walked through Green Gables that site that inspired L. M. Montgomery to create a tale Anne of Green Gables.

The island is made up of mostly agricultural land for potatoes, barley, soybeans and hay. Producing 1.2 million tons, it is third in the production of potatoes below Idaho and Washington and the largest in Canada.

There are 143,000 residents on the island. About 8 tons of potatoes are harvested per resident.
