Joe & Margret's Great NWT Adventure travel blog

It is another hot day, +30c again.

We are in another NWT Park. These parks are a good deal. All have power hookups. Washrooms and showers. They are all the same $29 a night except at Yellowknife where they are $32. These are government parks. Much better deal than provincial parks in Alberta that became very expensive after 'privatization'. I find camping in Alberta very, very expensive over all.

We drove into Hay River today to run a few errands. Also drove around the town. It is bigger than I had expected. We went to the car wash and cleaned the car of dust. There gets to be so much dust on it from towing that you can hardly tell the colour. Of course it will get covered with dust on the next leg of our adventure but that is to be expected.

Went to the Visitor Info Centre. One of the most helpful yet. The attendent was 'Peter'. He also gave us an 'esso card' giving us 5 cents off a litre up to 80 litres. This card is good until Sept.

We met George & Margaret, Glenn & Barb for lunch at a restaurant called Backdoor Eddies I believe. A good meal of fish cakes!

Barb is enjoying Hay River as she used to live here. She and the park attendent talked of different people they know and other stories.

We had a late happy hour about 6:30 or so.

Then George, Margaret & I went fishing for an hour or two. Peter at the info centre suggested a few places to fish however no luck!

Fortunately the 'bulldogs' don't seem to be as bad today.

The internet connection is not fast enough to load pictures. When I get to a quick connection I will load some pictures.
