Water taxi on Dubai Creek

It will just fit across our back yard

Hazzy days

9 July 2018

After a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, we set off in the 9am courtesy bus to join up with the blue route hop on hop off bus to the Dubai Mall. Here we changed to the red route bus which travels through the old town.

Our first "hop off" was at Al Seef for the Dhow Cruise. The hour long cruise around Dubai Creek was very enjoyable in air conditioned comfort. Plenty of activity on the water way, mainly with water taxis. Passed one cruiser that would just fit across our back yard at home!

Next stop was the Dubai Museum, which proved very interesting. As we left there to find the next bus, we met up with a couple from New Zealand, and we were actually able to "help" them find the bus, such seasoned travellers are we (tongue in cheek!).

They hopped off at the Old Souk, we continued on to the Gold Souk where we were bombarded (as expected) by everyone trying to make a sale. They didn't get any joy from us.

Back on the bus with our new friends, chatting and enjoying the ride to the Dubai Festival City Mall. A quick look around and then we lunched together at 3pm. They fly out tomorrow to a great nephew's wedding in Ireland, so we bade farewell here as they decided to call it a day. We continued back to the Dubai Mall for a quick bite to eat before joining the Midnight Blue Route at 6pm to see some lights. This didn't turn out to be what we expected, but enjoyable just the same. Saw a bit of a sunset, and eventually left the bus at stop 20 and caught a cab back to Jumeirah Beach, very happy to be back after 11 hours of sightseeing for the day.

We seem to have this knack of trying to fit in as much as possible to our days!
