|On Saturday morning we drove on to Kaikoura to find it heaving with people for an annual festival called Sea Fest but unfortunately the tickets were all sold out. It was nice to look around anyway and the town has definitely grown with many more bars and restaurants than when we were last here. Pete got an Indiana Jones style cowboy hat at a market.
We also went back to visit the Kaikoura winery where we bought some very nice white wine last time and surprisingly bought a bottle of wine fortified cream with a lovely butterscotch taste, like Baileys - I say surprisingly because I can't stand Baileys!
After lunch at a lookout over the town with good views of the sea to one side of the town and snow capped mountains to the other, we drove on south towards Queenstown to see how far we could get - we were looking for some DOC campsites but the directions were very vague and we couldn't find them so at about 9pm we bit the bullet and went to a holiday park in Fairlie.
