Ed & Marilyn 'The Happy Wanderers' travel blog

Even though we had planned a 5 ½ hour drive today we took our time preparing for the road. In spite of that we really had little to do to get ready and we pulled out of our RV Park at 8:00. The traffic was light to begin with and the drive was easy all day.

We stopped in Russell, Kansas to fuel up and were quickly back on the road. In fact we were both feeling fine so Marilyn used her phone to find a nice little RV Park in Burlington, Colorado and we continued driving.

We gained an hour when we crossed into the Mountain Time Zone and after driving for a solid seven hours we pulled off the Interstate at Exit 438 and in to the Campland RV Park just off the Interstate. This is a nice place for an overnight. Peaceful and quiet with long Sites of 80 to 110 feet in length. It is all on gravel and the only amenities are full hookups, Wi-Fi (Be sure to get the password before the people leave) and cable TV.

We were hungry after traveling all day and found a great place to eat called “The Dish Room”. That’s a weird name for sure but the food was great, a bit pricey but no complaint. Marilyn opted for the BLT which she said was the best she has ever eaten. I chose the burger (1/2 pound, cooked to order) and both of us selected a side dish (One included with each sandwich) of an awesome sweet corn tamale with bits of sweet red pepper, onion, and jalapeno chopped up and placed on top of the sour cream. The entire meal was great! Be advised that they offered flavor infused ice water with blueberries, lemon, and mint. It was very refreshing but cost $2.00 although the refills were free.

There is a Phillips 66 right next door (Diesel was 3.25 per gallon) so it was easy to fuel the truck for tomorrow.

We decided to not even turn on the TV tonight so we are relaxing and enjoying our books. Life is Good!
