Communal dinner last night

T & S2 walking this morning.

Day 22 - El Camino

Maximum & starting elevation = 1123 m, minimum & finishing elevation = 483m. 10 - 27 degrees. Sunny.

A storm about 30mins after we got in last night cleared away the cloud and humidity. We headed out to a blue sky and cooler morning. Downhill this morning through Riego de Ambros to Molinaseca. Lovely villages, particularly Molinaseca with a Roman bridge and riverside cafes where we stopped for coffee. 5km on to Ponferrada. T & I toured the 12th Century knights templar castle (Castillo de los Templarios) - free today as public holiday in Castilla and Leon. S2, M, T and I then lunched in a plaza in Ponferrada. A slow day left us with 15km to walk at 2pm. Fortunately, was flat easy walking but was the hottest it's been so far. We have walked through a valley today where vineyards dominate and the affluence (? from wine industry) is really obvious - lovely villages and large houses on the outskirts. Got in at 5.30pm. Ended up dining with an Australian gentleman, an Indian gentleman and a lady from Holland.

Today's distance = 30.5km km

Total distance = 597.5 km

Yellow VW count Troy - 1, Sue - 2
