Wednesday, September 28. Kibera Slums, Nairobi, Kenya. Erik and Anne invited me to join them, Matthias, and the Norwegians to visit one of the largest slums in East Africa called Kibera. We wanted to visit the slum to get a truer picture as to the living conditions of many Kenyans. Gerald and Gabriel, our Masai Mara guides, made the transportation and guide arrangements. We spent a few hours walking through part of the slum and visiting the YMCA. The photos above give a glimpse into life in the slums.

Thursday, September 29. Kenya National Museum, Nairobi, Kenya. I walked into town with Ann and Erik to visit the Kenya National Museum, which contained an interesting mix of exhibits, including fossils from early man, birds, fish, and mammals. Interestingly, most of the visitors were Japanese and many of the display lights were off.

Friday, September 30. Nairobi, Kenya. I spent the day doing errands in central Nairobi including getting money, buying blank CDs, buying a map of southern Africa, researching a safari to Amboseli National Park (Kenya), researching transportation to Kampala (Uganda), and updating my trip journal.
