Deer in field along highway

We decided that we would not stay in Pueblo because there were not any good campgrounds in the area we could stay, they were all full. We got reservation at Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs so that where we will drive to today. We have stayed there before and it is a nice and central located campground for us. We stayed at Garden of the Gods back in 1984 on our first trip to Denver in a Motorhome. We also stayed here 2 years ago on our trip home and it snowed while we were here.

Colorado Springs is a home rule municipality that is the largest city by area in Colorado as well as the

At 6,035 feet the city stands over 1 mile above sea level. This is higher than Denver, though some areas of the city are significantly higher and lower. Colorado Springs is situated near the base of one of the most famous American mountains, Pikes Peak, rising above 14,000 feet on the eastern edge of the Southern Rocky Mountains. The city is home to 24 national governing bodies of sport, including the United States Olympic Committee, the United States Olympic Training Center, and USA Hockey.

The city is second most populous city in the state of Colorado, behind Denver. The Colorado Springs area has a large presents of military installations. United States Air Force Academy, Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station, Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, and Fort Carson Army Base.

The drive was only 50 miles from Pueblo so we could take our time on the way. We did see some deer in a field on the way, first time we saw any wildlife on this trip.

Arrived at Garden of the Gods at 1:00 pm, got our site and it would not work for us, it was too small. They got us another site which was next to the one we stayed at 2 years ago. We go parked and Candy made a run to the store because Mike, Dawn’s oldest son, and his family are coming down tomorrow to spend Friday night and Saturday with us.
