Last night dinner with our tour group

Edge of the Alhambra and Granada by night

Alhambra day! We bade farewell to Hotel Los Berchules and our fabulous hosts Wendy, Alejandro and Sheila in the dark at 7am. Richard kindly drove us to the Alhambra in Granada (1hr45min trip) so we could be there in time for our private tour that started at 9am. Alfredo, our tour guide, guided us around the Alhambra from the Generalife to the Nasrid Palace and the Alcazaba. He was extremely knowledgeable and shared much history of this amazing site with us. He enjoyed this so much that our 3hr tour went for 4.25hrs! It was freezing cold, we tried not to let our teeth chattering and, by the end, hunger get in the way of a great experience.

Once Alfredo left us, we found some sun and food and once rejuvenated wondered through the Alhambra's gardens before heading into Granada.

Granada was bustling - it being holy week and the Sábado Santo procession was on this afternoon.

A tubo (glass of beer) and tapas in a bar and then a tour of the Cathedral (Capilla Real de Granada - Royal Chapel of Granada) rounded out the afternoon.

Our tour guide, George, organised our last dinner at Las Cuevas Taberna Morisca (The Caves Moorish Tavern) in Granada. Our group had a great last evening together, sitting outside the tavern, pretty much in the middle of the thoroughfare.

Then one last walk uphill to enjoy the view of the Alhambra and Granada at night from Plaza Mirador de San Nicolás.
