Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and China 2017 travel blog

Not the best time of year to be in Broome - the Wet season is on us, but not much rain - just ghastly humidity!!

However, Cyclone Hilda landed on top of us on 27th Dec - my first experience of a Cyclone. Lots of rain and very strong gusty winds. Lost power at 1630 and did not get it back for 21 hours, until 1330 on 28th. Took meat out of the freezer and put in spare freezer at house where Anne and Dave were staying, as they did not lose power. However, as we couldn't open windows due to wind and rain, the rooms were stifling and unbearable for sleeping - tablet downed and I slept like a log, though awoke drenched in sweat!!

Despite me putting 31st Dec on this entry, we did not leave until the 4th, retracing our steps down to Mt Magnet then across to Geraldton for two nights- oh, the blessed cool and the dreaded Gero Breeze was so welcome! Had been 44 degrees as we drove between Broome and Mount Magnet.
