Leigh by the river Torrens - bridge leads to the Adelaide Oval

Tuesday 12th December saw us arrive bright and early in Adelaide. It was going to be called Wellington but NZ got in first. They then opted for Williamstown after King William IV but he asked them to name it after his wife - which they duly did.

The train put on some tours for guests that are transiting through to Sydney but we managed to wangle our way on to one of the tours before heading off to our hotel. It was a bit rushed due to the train being late in but we saw some of the sights included the Adelaide Oval and Cathedral.

Once checked into the hotel we spent the rest of the day wandering around. As a planned city everything is pretty easy to find. We spent some time in the shopping area on Rundle Street getting a few presents for Xmas and then toured the Botanic Gardens which is home to the National Wine Centre. All very nice if a bit warm!

Picking up another motor home tomorrow and heading off to the Barossa Valley - I don't think we have had enough wine just yet!
