What a place! An island made from two volcanoes linked by an isthmus of rock in the middle of Lake Nicaragua.

We stayed in a lodge halfway up the smaller one. The views were awesome. It was a really nice family run spot. First morning we tried to walk up to a viewpoint but we got lost and ended up on a farm! The locals looked at us like we were crackers. The next day we hired a moped and drove round the island on some sketchy roads to the start of the trail to San Ramón waterfall. The 3km walk up was bloody warm! And full of Germans! The moped allowed us to explore and we came on a nice little cafe for some feed and a chocolate factory for desert. Lovely. On our last day we succeeded in finding the lookout point and it was well worth it. We cooled off from the walk by hitting the cool springs full of minerals from the Volcano. Followed by a few coco locos.

Ometepe is a cracking place, the locals are well friendly, most of them are farmers, even a few cowboys.
