This was the day we had been waiting for as we would learn the results of my cancer treatments.
Julie started our day off with a great breakfast. Of course the Garth Mansion is a premier B & B and Julie is a super chef. She served us a gourmet coffee as we sat at a table in their beautiful dining room. She followed that with a breakfast of fresh fruit cut up, ham & eggs, peach French toast, and a large glass containing a special juice which is absolutely delicious.
Marilyn & I only wanted a place to sleep and didn’t expect any frills but John & Julie put us in a room with a gas log fireplace, a huge jetted tub, a large feather bed, and our own bathroom. Beside the bed was a device for charging your cell phone, tablet or Kindle device, a digital clock, and more. A TV which we didn’t use, and more than adequate storage with beautiful antique furniture completing the décor. This is indeed a special place and I would suggest it for a romantic getaway if you want to treat that special person in your life to a great weekend sometime. I plan to devote an entire journal entry to write about the Garth Mansion so please watch for it.
Our daughter joined us in the morning as she wanted to be with us when we saw the doctors and learned the result of my treatment.
The first Doctor was at the Cancer Center and he had good news for me. My PSA was 0.07 which was negligible and now I only need to see this Doctor once a year. The second doctor was at the hospital and he spent some time talking with us. I will continue to see him twice a year. He gave me a prescription which will help with the side effects from the radiation therapy.
It may take a bit of time to digest the good news and write about my feelings, so please bear with me. I also want to write an entire journal entry about the Garth Woodside Mansion, as they certainly deserve more than I can offer by writing about this place and the good friends who own it.
This has indeed been a day when I can speak quietly with our Lord in prayer, just to thank Him for the Blessings He has given me. It is because of these blessings that I continue to say Life is Good!
